Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai offering particularly strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, retail, aviation, events, security, construction, technology and finance. The culture combines Islamic traditions, Arab heritage and a highly international population; respectful dress, behaviour and observance of local laws are important. Dubai provides modern housing, shopping, beaches, restaurants and extensive public transport, although summer heat and living costs can be significant. For most overseas hires, the employer arranges a residence visa, work permit, medical examination and Emirates ID process. Do not work on a tourist visa. Relocating employees should confirm salary, accommodation, transport, insurance, flights, leave and contract terms before accepting. Costs and benefits differ considerably between employers, and family sponsorship normally requires meeting income and documentation conditions.
