Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest range of hospitality, tourism, retail, aviation and business opportunities. The country has a multicultural workforce and a modern lifestyle, combining beaches, desert activities, international dining, shopping and major entertainment events. English is widely used in hotels and workplaces, while Arabic is the official language. Summers are extremely hot, so air-conditioned facilities and indoor activities dominate daily life; winters are pleasant and popular for outdoor excursions. Most expatriates enter on an employer-sponsored residence and work visa. Employers commonly arrange medical checks, Emirates ID processing and sometimes accommodation or transport. Candidates should verify salary, benefits, probation, working hours, annual leave, insurance and repatriation terms before relocating. Dubai has a relatively high cost of living, particularly for housing, but tax-free employment income can offset expenses.
