The Assistant Front Office Manager supports the Front Office Manager in overseeing daily reception, guest services, arrivals, departures, room allocation, billing and complaint resolution at The Westin Brisbane. Candidates are expected to have previous hotel front-office or supervisory experience, strong communication and leadership skills, sound knowledge of hotel systems such as Opera, and a professional, guest-focused approach. The role requires flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends and public holidays, while maintaining Marriott and Westin service standards. The successful candidate should be organised, commercially aware, calm under pressure and committed to creating a smooth, personalised guest experience.
The Westin Brisbane is part of Westin Hotels & Resorts, a premium hospitality brand operated by Marriott International. Westin focuses on wellbeing, offering guests experiences built around sleep, movement, nutrition and feeling at their best. The brand is known for its Heavenly Bed, wellness-oriented amenities, thoughtful service and contemporary accommodation. Located in Brisbane, the hotel serves business travellers, leisure guests, groups and event clients, with departments including rooms, food and beverage, meetings and events, and guest services. Marriott International is one of the world’s largest hotel companies, operating a broad portfolio of brands across more than 140 countries and territories. Employees may benefit from structured training, career development, international mobility and Marriott’s associate travel programs, subject to eligibility and local employment conditions.
Australia offers strong opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, events, healthcare, construction, technology and skilled trades. Brisbane has a warm subtropical climate, an outdoor lifestyle, efficient public transport and access to beaches, national parks and Queensland’s islands. Workplace culture is generally friendly, practical and relatively informal, while punctuality, safety, reliability and respectful communication are valued. Living costs, especially rent, can be significant, so budgeting is important. International applicants need the appropriate work rights: options may include employer-sponsored visas, skilled visas, Working Holiday visas or student visas with work limits, depending on nationality and occupation. Check current requirements with Australia’s Department of Home Affairs. Relocating usually involves securing accommodation, tax and banking arrangements, Medicare or suitable private health cover, and an Australian Tax File Number.
