Working in United Arab Emirates

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but it is a popular Gulf destination with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, aviation, construction, healthcare and technology. Dubai offers an international, fast-paced lifestyle, modern public transport, beaches, shopping malls and a large expatriate community. UAE culture combines Emirati traditions and Islamic values with a highly multicultural working environment; modest dress and respectful public behaviour are expected. Most overseas employees require an employment visa sponsored by their employer. Employers typically arrange entry permission, medical testing, Emirates ID processing and residency formalities, although applicants should confirm all costs and benefits in writing. Relocating workers should budget for deposits, transport and personal expenses, while checking whether accommodation, meals, flights and insurance are included. Summers are extremely hot, and work can involve long shifts.
