Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers varied hospitality and technical job opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak. Hotels, resorts, restaurants, property developments and facilities-management companies regularly recruit technicians, engineers, chefs, front-office staff and service employees. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences; English is widely used in tourism, while Malay is the national language. Lifestyle ranges from modern city living to beaches, rainforests and island communities, with generally affordable food and transport outside prime tourist areas. Malaysia is not one island but a country spanning the Malay Peninsula and Borneo, with many attractive islands. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored employment pass or relevant work permit, and should secure approval before starting work. Relocating employees should confirm accommodation, medical coverage, taxes, transport and contract conditions. Putrajaya is orderly, green and quieter than Kuala Lumpur, making it suitable for hotel professionals seeking a balanced lifestyle.
