About the employer

JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa is a luxury beachfront resort in Phang Nga, southern Thailand, operated under Marriott International’s JW Marriott brand. The resort is known for spacious accommodation, extensive pools, wellness facilities, restaurants and leisure experiences designed around refined hospitality and local surroundings. Its guests include international leisure travelers, families, couples and groups seeking a high-end coastal retreat. As part of Marriott International, the property follows global standards for guest service, culinary operations, safety, training and professional development. Employees typically work in a multicultural environment and may receive benefits such as service charge, staff meals, uniforms, accommodation or housing support, insurance and Marriott associate discounts, depending on the employment package. The resort’s location provides opportunities for hospitality professionals who want experience in luxury hotel operations while living near Khao Lak’s beaches and within reach of Phuket.

Working in Thailand

Khao Lak is a relaxed coastal destination on Thailand’s Andaman side, although it is on the mainland rather than an island. Nearby attractions include the Similan and Surin Islands, Phang Nga Bay, waterfalls, national parks and beaches. Hospitality work is concentrated in luxury resorts, restaurants, wellness centers, diving operations, tour companies and seasonal tourism businesses. The culture is welcoming and community-oriented, with Buddhist traditions, local markets, seafood, southern Thai food and a generally respectful pace of life. Living costs are usually lower than in Phuket, while Phuket offers larger shopping, nightlife and transport connections about one to two hours away. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Non-Immigrant B visa and a Thai work permit; requirements can include legalized qualifications, medical checks and official employment documents. Confirm current rules with the employer or a Thai immigration specialist. Relocation planning should include housing, transport, insurance and rainy-season conditions.
