Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers varied hospitality opportunities across Sabah, Langkawi, Penang, Perhentian, Redang, Tioman and other coastal destinations. Roles are available in hotels, resorts, restaurants, diving operations, spas, events and tourism services, with stronger seasonal demand during school holidays and peak travel periods. Sabah blends Malay, Chinese, Indigenous and international influences, with night markets, seafood, island excursions and a relaxed outdoor lifestyle. Living costs are generally moderate, though accommodation near major resorts can be expensive. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored employment pass or work permit before starting work; requirements depend on nationality, role and immigration approval. Employers may assist with documentation, medical checks and relocation, but candidates should confirm housing, flights, insurance, meals and permit costs in writing. Kota Kinabalu provides good transport, healthcare, shopping and access to nearby islands.
