Working in Malaysia

Malaysia offers hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak, especially in hotels, restaurants, resorts, events and tourism. Kuala Lumpur is a busy, multicultural city with modern malls, varied dining, public transport and a generally lower cost of living than many major international cities. Malaysia’s culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, with Bahasa Malaysia and English widely used in workplaces. Island destinations such as Langkawi and parts of Sabah offer a slower lifestyle, beaches and strong resort employment, though transport and housing can be more limited. Foreign employees normally require an Employment Pass arranged by the sponsoring employer before starting work. Applicants should confirm eligibility, medical requirements, tax obligations and dependent rules with the employer and Malaysian authorities. Relocation costs, accommodation and local transport should be discussed during hiring.
