Working in Singapore

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, finance, technology, healthcare and international business. The culture is multicultural, shaped by Chinese, Malay, Indian and global influences, with English widely used at work. Life is safe and convenient, supported by excellent public transport, modern services, diverse food and lively districts such as Marina Bay, Chinatown, Little India and Kampong Glam. Housing can be expensive, especially near the city centre, so many newcomers compare rental rooms, shared apartments and employer-provided accommodation. Foreign professionals generally need a valid work pass before starting employment; senior hospitality appointments may qualify for an Employment Pass, subject to current salary and eligibility requirements. Employers commonly handle or support the application. New arrivals should budget for rent, deposits, transport, healthcare and a humid year-round climate.
