Working in Philippines

The Philippines offers technology opportunities in Metro Manila, especially Taguig, Makati, and Quezon City, with expanding roles in Cebu and other regional hubs. Demand is strong for infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, software, shared services, and business-process expertise. Filipino culture is generally welcoming, family-oriented, and English-friendly, making workplace integration easier for international professionals. Urban life provides restaurants, shopping, entertainment, and affordable services, while beaches, mountains, and island destinations are accessible for weekend travel. Manila living costs vary considerably; rent and commuting are usually the largest expenses, and traffic can be challenging. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work visa or permit, commonly involving a 9(g) employment visa, with requirements depending on nationality and contract. Before relocating, confirm sponsorship, tax treatment, healthcare, housing, and remote-work arrangements. Tropical weather, including a rainy season and occasional typhoons, should also be considered.
