Working in Ireland

Ireland offers strong opportunities in financial services, technology, pharmaceuticals, consulting, professional services, and multinational operations, particularly in Dublin, Cork, Galway, and Limerick. Irish workplace culture is generally collaborative, informal, and relationship-focused, with English as the main business language. The lifestyle combines vibrant cities, historic towns, coastal scenery, music, sport, and easy access to the countryside. Dublin has the broadest job market but also the highest housing costs; regional cities may provide a more affordable balance. Citizens of the EU, EEA, and Switzerland can work without an employment permit. Non-EEA applicants normally need an employment permit, such as a Critical Skills Employment Permit where the role and salary qualify, followed by immigration registration. Relocating employees should budget carefully for accommodation, healthcare, transport, and deposits, and confirm sponsorship, tax, and work-authorisation details with the employer before accepting an offer.
