Typical requirements include experience in road freight, transport operations or logistics; knowledge of customs, documentation and UK or European transport procedures; strong communication and organisational skills; attention to detail; and confidence using transport management systems and Microsoft Office. The candidate is expected to coordinate with customers, carriers, warehouses and internal teams, monitor shipment progress, resolve delays or service issues, maintain accurate records and meet operational and customer-service targets. Flexibility, commercial awareness and the ability to work effectively under pressure are important. Experience with DHL systems, freight forwarding or cross-border movements would be advantageous.

Career opportunities range from transport and warehouse operations to customer service, commercial roles, technology, engineering and management.
The United Kingdom offers opportunities in logistics, road transport, freight forwarding, warehousing, supply chain, technology, healthcare and professional services. Major employment centres include London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Glasgow and ports such as Felixstowe, Southampton and Liverpool. British workplace culture generally values punctuality, professionalism, clear communication and respect for personal boundaries. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living to quieter coastal and rural communities, with strong public transport in many cities but higher housing costs in London and the South East. Visa requirements depend on nationality; many overseas applicants need employer sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route, while Irish citizens have separate rights under the Common Travel Area. Candidates should check current UK government rules, confirm that an employer can sponsor the role and budget for housing, transport, healthcare-related charges and initial relocation costs.
