Destination Guide

Japan offers strong opportunities in technology, e-commerce, fintech, marketing, engineering, tourism, healthcare, and international business, especially in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka. The workplace culture generally values punctuality, preparation, teamwork, and respect for hierarchy, although international companies may have more flexible styles. Daily life is safe and convenient, with excellent public transport, reliable services, and varied food and entertainment. Tokyo is highly connected but expensive; regional cities offer lower living costs and a quieter pace. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored work visa, such as the Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services status. Highly skilled professionals may qualify for a faster permanent-residency route. Relocating commonly involves securing housing, registering an address, arranging health insurance and a residence card, and learning basic Japanese for everyday tasks.
