Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but it offers coastal resort living, particularly in Ras Al Khaimah, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Fujairah. Hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, retail, aviation, wellness and events provide many employment opportunities. The culture combines Emirati traditions with a highly international population; modest dress, respect for religion and considerate behavior in public are important. Lifestyle choices range from quiet beaches and desert activities to shopping, dining and city entertainment. Most overseas employees need employer-sponsored residence and work visas, normally arranged after an offer and medical examination. Employers may also provide accommodation, transport, meals, insurance and annual air tickets, depending on the contract. New arrivals should verify salary, service charge, working hours, leave, housing and recruitment fees before signing. Summers are extremely hot, while winter offers the most comfortable outdoor weather.
