Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but it is a popular Gulf destination with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, construction, retail, aviation, engineering and technology. Ras Al Khaimah offers a quieter, more affordable lifestyle than Dubai, with beaches, mountains, desert activities and a growing resort sector. UAE culture blends Emirati traditions with a large international community; modest dress, respect for religion and awareness of local customs are important. Summers are extremely hot, while winter is comfortable for outdoor activities. Employers normally arrange an employment entry permit and residence visa, followed by medical checks and an Emirates ID application. Do not work on a tourist visa. Confirm accommodation, transport, meals, insurance, leave, probation and end-of-service benefits before relocating. Employees should keep passport and contract copies, budget for personal expenses and use official government channels for visa information.
