Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but it offers a coastal lifestyle with beaches, desert landscapes and modern cities. Hospitality, tourism, events, aviation, retail and food and beverage provide strong employment opportunities, particularly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a large international population; modest dress, respect for local customs and awareness of Ramadan practices are important. Lifestyle options include restaurants, shopping, nightlife, water sports, desert trips and excellent public facilities, although housing and schooling can be expensive. For most overseas hires, the employer sponsors an employment residence visa, usually after medical checks and document attestation. Employers commonly arrange or support work permits, health insurance and sometimes accommodation or transport, depending on the package. Candidates should confirm salary, commission, housing, flights, leave and visa costs before relocating. Dubai is well connected, but summer heat and busy working hours should be considered.
