Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a Gulf federation offering strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, construction, aviation, retail, logistics, healthcare and technology. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are the main employment centres, with hotels regularly recruiting technicians, engineers, chefs, housekeepers and guest-service professionals. The culture combines Emirati traditions, Islamic values and a highly international population; modest dress and respectful behaviour are expected in public and workplaces. Lifestyle options include beaches, shopping, desert activities and extensive dining, although rent and living costs can be high. Most foreign employees require an employer-sponsored residence visa and work permit. Employers commonly arrange medical testing, Emirates ID processing and sometimes accommodation, transport, meals or insurance. Candidates should verify the written contract, benefits, recruitment fees and accommodation before travelling. English is widely used, while Arabic is the official language.
