Destination Guide

Bermuda offers employment opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, marine services, finance, healthcare and professional services. Hospitality work is especially active during the main tourism season, although employers generally must demonstrate that suitable Bermudian candidates are unavailable before receiving approval to hire overseas workers. A valid work permit and employer sponsorship are normally required; applicants should not travel expecting to work without authorization. Bermuda’s culture blends British, Caribbean, African and international influences, with strong community traditions and a relaxed but professional social style. The island has beautiful beaches, clear water, boating, diving and excellent walking routes. Living costs are high, particularly for accommodation, groceries and transport, so candidates should confirm housing, meals, insurance, wages and permit arrangements before accepting an offer. Public buses and ferries are widely used, while private cars and scooters are regulated.
