Destination Guide

Australia offers hospitality opportunities in hotels, restaurants, resorts, cafés, bars and event venues, particularly in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, regional tourism areas and coastal destinations. Workplace culture is generally practical, team-oriented and relatively informal, with emphasis on punctuality, safety, respectful communication and customer service. Melbourne provides excellent dining, arts and sports, but rent and living costs can be high. Public transport is strong in metropolitan areas, while regional locations may require a car. Common visa options include the Working Holiday Maker visas, employer-sponsored skilled visas and student visas with work limits; eligibility depends on nationality, occupation, age and qualifications. Applicants should check current rules with Australia’s Department of Home Affairs. Relocating usually requires a tax file number, Australian bank account, health insurance where appropriate and budgeting for housing, transport and the initial settling-in period.
