Destination Guide

Qatar is a peninsula rather than an island, with Doha as its main commercial and cultural center. Hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, construction, healthcare, technology, and events provide significant employment opportunities, especially for experienced international candidates. The culture is welcoming but conservative; modest dress, respect for Islamic customs, and awareness of Ramadan practices are important. Doha offers modern malls, museums, beaches, restaurants, sports facilities, and desert excursions, while summers are extremely hot and humid. Most overseas employees need an employer-sponsored work visa and residence permit. Employers commonly assist with medical checks, documentation, accommodation, transport, and flights, although benefits vary by contract. Before relocating, candidates should confirm salary, housing, insurance, working hours, leave, and family sponsorship provisions. Qatar has no personal income tax on most employment earnings, but living costs can be high in central Doha.
