Destination Guide

Although the United Arab Emirates is not an island nation, Dubai includes island developments such as Bluewaters Island, Palm Jumeirah and The World Islands. Hospitality, aviation, retail, construction, technology, finance and healthcare offer strong employment opportunities, especially in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. UAE culture blends Islamic traditions with a highly international lifestyle; modest dress and respectful behavior are expected in public and at work. Life is modern and convenient, with excellent transport, shopping, beaches and restaurants, though summer heat is intense and living costs can be high. Most foreign employees need an employer-sponsored residence visa, work permit and medical screening. Employers commonly arrange visa processing, while benefits such as accommodation, transport, insurance and annual flights vary by contract. Candidates should verify the written offer, recruitment fees, accommodation standards and probation terms before relocating.
