Destination Guide

The Philippines is an archipelago with employment opportunities in hospitality, tourism, engineering, construction, business services, healthcare, education, and technology. Manila and nearby Metro Manila offer the broadest range of hotel and corporate jobs, while Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, and other destinations provide resort-focused opportunities. Filipino culture is generally warm, family-oriented, community-minded, and respectful, with English widely used in workplaces. Lifestyle varies from busy urban living and shopping to relaxed coastal communities, outdoor activities, and island travel. Living costs are usually lower than in many major international cities, although central Manila housing and transport can be expensive. Filipino citizens can work without immigration restrictions. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and an appropriate visa, commonly a 9(g) work visa, before beginning employment. Relocating candidates should confirm licensing, accommodation, healthcare, taxation, and employment conditions with the employer and Philippine authorities.
