Destination Guide

Qatar is a modern Gulf country and peninsula rather than an island, with Doha as its main employment and lifestyle center. Hospitality, aviation, retail, construction, technology, healthcare and energy provide regular job opportunities, while luxury hotels offer roles for international candidates. The culture blends Islamic traditions, Qatari heritage and a large expatriate community; modest dress and respect for local customs are expected. Life in Doha includes modern malls, beaches, museums, restaurants and desert excursions, although summers are extremely hot. Most foreign employees need employer-sponsored work and residence permits, and the employer normally arranges the visa, medical checks and documentation. Confirm contract terms, accommodation, transport, health insurance and annual leave before relocating. Qatar uses the Qatari riyal, and English is widely used in workplaces.
