Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island country, but Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah is a major resort destination and offers many hospitality opportunities. Hotels, restaurants, airlines, retail companies, spas and tourism businesses regularly recruit international staff, particularly in guest services, food and beverage, housekeeping and events. Dubai’s culture blends Emirati traditions with a highly international lifestyle; respectful dress, courteous behavior and awareness of Islamic customs are important. The city offers excellent transport, modern shopping and entertainment, beaches and year-round sunshine, although summers are extremely hot. Most expatriates work under employer-sponsored residence visas. Employers commonly arrange work permits, medical checks and sometimes accommodation, transport, meals and insurance. Candidates should verify contract terms, recruitment fees, probation rules and benefits before relocating. A passport, authenticated documents and medical clearance may be required, while family sponsorship depends on salary and visa conditions.
