Destination Guide

Maldives resort islands offer opportunities in hospitality, including sales, front office, food and beverage, housekeeping, engineering, wellness, diving, recreation, finance, and management. The culture is predominantly Muslim, so modest dress and respectful behavior are expected in local communities; resort islands are more international, while alcohol is restricted outside designated tourist resorts. Lifestyle is close to the sea, with beaches, snorkeling, diving, water sports, and a quiet work environment, although remote locations can feel isolated and supplies may cost more. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Approval and a valid work visa or permit; the employer usually manages the application, medical checks, and travel documentation. Contracts commonly include staff accommodation, meals, medical coverage, flights, and service charge, but terms vary. Confirm salary, roster, leave, internet access, transport, visa costs, and insurance before accepting an offer. Malé is the main gateway, followed by domestic flight or seaplane transfer.
