Destination Guide

Australia is a large island continent with hospitality opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, cafés and tourism destinations. The Gold Coast offers a warm coastal lifestyle, beaches, outdoor activities and a multicultural community, although rent and transport costs can be significant. Workplace culture is generally practical, direct and team-oriented, with strong expectations around punctuality, safety and respectful conduct. Employees are protected by Australian workplace laws, including minimum pay and penalty-rate rules. Foreign workers need a visa that permits employment, such as an eligible Working Holiday visa, employer-sponsored visa or another suitable work-rights visa. Requirements vary by nationality, age, occupation and employer, so applicants should check the Australian Department of Home Affairs before travelling. New arrivals should budget for accommodation, transport, tax, health insurance and a tax file number, and confirm work rights before accepting employment.
