Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but Dubai offers a coastal, international lifestyle with beaches, shopping, dining, entertainment, and year-round sunshine. Hospitality creates many opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, events, aviation, tourism, and luxury retail, particularly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The culture is welcoming and multicultural, while Islamic traditions influence dress, public behaviour, working hours, and holiday periods. Living costs can be high, especially for accommodation, although hotel jobs may include shared housing, meals, transport, medical insurance, and service charge. Employees normally need an employer-sponsored residence visa and work permit; medical checks and document attestation may be required. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, transport, working hours, gratuities, annual leave, and contract conditions before relocating. Dubai has modern public transport and strong international connectivity, but summer temperatures are extremely hot. English is widely used in workplaces, with Arabic valued as an additional language.
