Destination Guide

The UAE is not an island country, although Abu Dhabi city is situated on an island connected to the mainland by bridges. It offers strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, finance, technology and construction, particularly in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a highly international lifestyle; modest dress, respectful behavior and awareness of Islamic customs are appreciated. Residents enjoy beaches, desert activities, shopping malls, restaurants and year-round events, though summers are extremely hot. Most foreign employees require an employer-sponsored residence visa, work permit and medical screening. Employers commonly assist with accommodation, insurance, flights and relocation, depending on the contract. Living costs can be high, especially for housing, but salaries are generally tax-free for individuals. A passport, authenticated qualifications and a clear employment contract are important before relocating.
