Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but it is a popular relocation destination with strong opportunities in aviation, logistics, finance, technology, tourism, construction and professional services. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are the main employment centres, while Sharjah and other emirates may offer lower living costs. UAE culture combines local Islamic traditions with a highly international lifestyle. Arabic is the official language, though English is widely used at work. Residents enjoy modern housing, shopping, beaches, restaurants and excellent transport, but summers are extremely hot and accommodation can be expensive. Most expatriates need employer-sponsored residence and work visas; employers usually arrange permits, medical checks and Emirates ID processing. UAE nationals applying through Emiratisation programmes follow local employment requirements. Before relocating, confirm salary, housing, insurance, schooling, probation terms and visa sponsorship, and budget for deposits, transport and daily expenses.
