Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, retail, finance, technology, healthcare and education. English is widely used at work, while Malay, Mandarin and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, orderly and fast-paced, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, green spaces and reliable public services. Rent can be expensive, especially near central areas, so many workers share accommodation or live farther from the city centre. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid throughout the year, with frequent rainfall. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation. Candidates should confirm eligibility, medical requirements and housing arrangements before relocating. The island is safe and well connected to regional travel destinations.
