Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hotels, resorts, tourism, finance, technology, and retail, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, and Johor. Island and resort life can be relaxed and outdoors-oriented, with beaches, diving, rainforest activities, and a multicultural food scene. Urban areas provide better transport, career mobility, international schools, and shopping, while resort locations may feel quieter and more seasonal. Malay, English, Mandarin, and Tamil are widely used, depending on the region. Foreign employees generally need an employment pass sponsored by the hiring company; approval depends on qualifications, salary, and immigration requirements, so candidates should not begin work before authorization. Relocation costs, accommodation, medical coverage, and transport should be confirmed in the offer. Malaysia is generally affordable compared with many international destinations, although central Kuala Lumpur and popular island resorts can be significantly more expensive.
