Destination Guide

Indonesia offers varied opportunities in hospitality, tourism, events and commercial sales, especially in Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya, Batam and other major resort destinations. Jakarta, on Java, is the country’s principal corporate and MICE market, while Bali is stronger for international conferences, incentives, weddings and leisure tourism. Indonesian culture values courtesy, personal relationships, community and respect for religious traditions; modest dress and sensitivity during Ramadan are advisable. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed coastal communities, with excellent food and generally affordable daily costs, though central Jakarta and Bali can be expensive. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate work visa and work permit sponsored by an Indonesian employer; tourist visas do not permit employment. Employers usually guide the application process. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, taxation, healthcare, relocation support and contract terms before moving.
