Destination Guide

Singapore is a modern island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, food and beverage, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare, and logistics. The culture is multicultural, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil. Life is convenient and generally safe, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, parks, and efficient public services. Accommodation can be expensive, so newcomers often share apartments or use staff housing where available. Foreign kitchen and hotel workers usually need employer sponsorship for a Singapore Work Permit or, for eligible higher-paid roles, an S Pass. The employer normally handles the application, and approval depends on government requirements and sector quotas. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, medical costs, and daily expenses, and confirm working hours, benefits, accommodation, and permit arrangements before accepting an offer.
