Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, aviation, finance, technology, healthcare, retail and logistics. Its culture is multicultural, blending Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, with English widely used at work. Life is safe, efficient and convenient, supported by excellent public transport, hawker centres, shopping malls, parks and a lively arts and dining scene. Housing can be expensive, especially near central districts, so many workers choose shared accommodation or locations close to MRT lines. Foreign employees generally need employer-sponsored permission to work, commonly an S Pass or Employment Pass, subject to current salary, qualifications and Ministry of Manpower requirements. Secure a written offer before relocating and confirm visa sponsorship, medical checks, accommodation, insurance and flight arrangements. Singapore has a hot, humid climate year-round, with frequent rain, so lightweight clothing and an adaptable attitude are useful.
