Destination Guide

Indonesia is an archipelago with varied opportunities across Java, Bali, Sumatra, Sulawesi, Kalimantan, Lombok, and smaller islands. Jakarta, on Java, is the main corporate and hospitality hub, offering jobs in hotels, tourism, finance, technology, trade, and events. Bali provides extensive resort, restaurant, wellness, and tourism employment, while Lombok and other destinations offer growing opportunities in leisure development. Indonesian workplace culture generally values respect for hierarchy, relationship-building, punctual communication, and teamwork; English is useful in international hotels, while Bahasa Indonesia is important for daily life. Living costs vary widely: Jakarta and Bali can be expensive in popular areas, though local food and transport remain affordable. Foreign hires normally need employer sponsorship and the appropriate work and stay permits; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Candidates should confirm visa support, housing, insurance, taxation, flights, and relocation assistance before accepting an offer. Island climates are tropical, with regional wet and dry seasons.
