Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, food and beverage, tourism, finance, technology and healthcare. Its culture combines Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, reflected in its festivals, languages and diverse cuisine. The lifestyle is safe, clean and highly connected, with efficient public transport, modern shopping areas, parks and extensive dining options. Rent can be expensive, especially near the city centre, so many workers share accommodation or live in districts served by MRT lines. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit; eligibility depends on nationality, salary, occupation and current government rules. Employers usually provide guidance on applications, but candidates should confirm contract terms, housing, insurance and work-pass conditions before relocating. Singapore is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain.
