Company Info

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and recognized for Asian-inspired service, elegant properties and strong guest care. The group operates hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. Its Hong Kong operations include prestigious properties such as Island Shangri-La and Kowloon Shangri-La, offering accommodation, restaurants, banqueting, wellness and conference services. Shangri-La places emphasis on warm hospitality, professionalism, teamwork and personalized experiences. Culinary employees generally work in structured, high-volume kitchens serving international and regional cuisine, with opportunities to learn from experienced chefs and progress within the wider hotel group. Benefits may include staff meals, uniforms, training, medical coverage and hotel discounts, although the exact package depends on the property and employment contract.

Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a fast-paced international city spread across Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, rather than a single island destination. Hospitality opportunities are strongest in luxury hotels, restaurants, clubs, catering, events and tourism, with experienced culinary professionals in steady demand. Cantonese culture shapes food, festivals and everyday life, while English is widely used in hotels and business. The lifestyle combines excellent public transport, dense urban neighborhoods, hiking trails, beaches and a vibrant dining scene, although housing can be expensive and compact. Overseas hires normally need an employer-sponsored Hong Kong employment visa before starting work; approval considers qualifications, relevant experience, a confirmed role and market-standard pay. Dependants may usually apply for visas after approval. Candidates should confirm accommodation, medical coverage, working hours, gratuities, meals and visa responsibilities directly with the employer before relocating.
