Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hospitality, finance, tourism, retail, technology, and education. Popular island destinations include Penang, Langkawi, Tioman, and parts of Sabah, while Kuala Lumpur provides the broadest employment market. Malaysian culture is diverse, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous influences, with English commonly used in hotels and business. Island living offers beaches, outdoor activities, affordable local food, and a relaxed lifestyle, although transport and housing costs vary by location. Foreign employees normally need an employment pass sponsored by the hiring company; eligibility depends on qualifications, salary, and the role. Employers typically handle much of the application process. New arrivals should confirm accommodation, medical coverage, tax obligations, transport, and local registration before relocating. Malaysia has a tropical climate, so candidates should expect heat, humidity, and seasonal rain.
