Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, events, tourism, retail and business services, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other coastal destinations. Its culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous traditions, with English widely used in hospitality and business. Lifestyle ranges from busy city living to relaxed island life, with affordable food, warm weather and excellent beaches, although humidity and monsoon seasons should be considered. Langkawi, Penang and parts of Sabah and Sarawak are popular relocation choices for resort professionals. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the company must complete the relevant immigration approvals before work begins. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, transport, insurance, tax obligations and renewal terms with the employer. Malaysia is generally welcoming, but local customs, modest dress in some settings and respect for religious practices are important.
