Destination Guide

Indonesia offers varied opportunities for hospitality professionals across Bali, Java, Lombok, Sumatra and the resort islands of the Riau and Nusa Tenggara regions. Bali is the most established tourism market, with strong demand for chefs in luxury resorts, restaurants and villas, while Jakarta and Surabaya provide larger corporate and convention hotels. Indonesian culture values courtesy, community, religious diversity and respectful relationships, with Muslim, Hindu, Christian and other traditions shaping daily life. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed beach and island communities; costs are generally lower than in many Western countries, although popular areas of Bali can be expensive. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and stay visa, with the company handling immigration and compliance requirements. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, insurance, flights, tax treatment and permit sponsorship before accepting an offer. Learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly beneficial for workplace integration and everyday life.
