Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with major hospitality opportunities in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah. Hotels, resorts, restaurants, airlines, attractions, and event venues regularly recruit service staff. Life is modern, international, and fast-paced, with excellent shopping, beaches, desert activities, public transport in major cities, and a wide range of cultural communities. The culture combines Islamic traditions with a diverse expatriate population, so respectful dress and behaviour are important, particularly during Ramadan. Employers normally sponsor a work visa and residence permit after hiring; working without the correct permit is not allowed. Candidates should confirm salary, accommodation, meals, transport, insurance, leave, and contract terms before relocating. Living costs vary considerably, and employer-provided accommodation can make a major difference to savings.
