Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, finance, technology and healthcare. Its culture is multicultural, shaped by Chinese, Malay, Indian and international communities, with English widely used at work. The lifestyle is safe, convenient and energetic, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping and extensive urban attractions. Housing can be expensive, especially in central areas, so many employees choose shared accommodation or locations near MRT lines. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; hospitality supervisors may qualify for an Employment Pass or S Pass depending on salary, qualifications and government requirements. Employers normally assist with the application, but approval is not automatic. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, healthcare and deposits, and verify salary, service charge, accommodation and working-hour terms before relocating.
