Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, aviation, finance, technology, healthcare, and logistics. Its culture blends Chinese, Malay, Indian, and international influences, reflected in its languages, festivals, neighborhoods, and famous hawker food. The lifestyle is safe, efficient, and urban, with excellent public transport, shopping, parks, waterfront areas, and easy access to Southeast Asia. Housing can be expensive, especially near central districts, so many newcomers compare shared accommodation and areas close to MRT stations. Foreign professionals generally need an appropriate work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass, or Work Permit, and the employer usually submits the application. Requirements depend on salary, qualifications, experience, and prevailing government rules. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, medical insurance, and deposits, and confirm relocation support, working hours, benefits, and pass eligibility with Shangri-La before accepting an offer.
