Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, technology, finance, education, healthcare and business services, particularly around Colombo, the southern coast, Kandy and major resort destinations. The culture blends Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim and colonial influences, with strong traditions of family, religion, hospitality and community. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed coastal and inland environments, with beaches, wildlife, tea country and historic sites close at hand. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored employment or residence visa and should confirm current requirements with the Sri Lankan embassy and immigration authorities before travelling. Employers may assist with permits, accommodation, transport, insurance and relocation, but these benefits vary. Candidates should budget for currency fluctuations, understand local tax obligations and respect conservative dress and cultural customs outside resort areas.
