Company Info

Shangri-La is a Hong Kong-founded luxury hospitality group operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and Africa. The brand is known for attentive Asian-inspired service, comfortable accommodation, destination resorts and high standards in food and beverage, wellness and guest experience. Its properties range from urban business hotels to large beachfront resorts, requiring substantial engineering, operations and service expertise. Shangri-La places emphasis on colleague development, cultural awareness, responsible business practices and consistent brand standards. In Malaysia, the group has operated well-known city and resort properties, serving international visitors, business travellers, families and local guests. Benefits and working conditions vary by property and seniority, but management roles commonly include structured training, healthcare or insurance provisions and possible accommodation or relocation support.

Destination Guide

Malaysia is a multicultural country rather than a single island destination, with attractive island locations including Langkawi, Penang, Pangkor, Tioman, Redang and parts of Borneo. Hospitality, engineering, tourism, marine recreation, food and beverage and property-management jobs are common in resort areas and major cities. Local culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous traditions, with English widely used in hotels and business. Lifestyle ranges from lively Kuala Lumpur and Penang to relaxed beach communities; costs are generally moderate, though island housing and imported goods can be expensive. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the company must meet Malaysian immigration requirements before work begins. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, accommodation, medical cover, taxation, transport and leave terms. Relocation is easiest with an employment contract, passport validity, certified qualifications and a background check prepared in advance.
