Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, facilities management, engineering, technology, finance and healthcare. English is widely used at work, while the population is culturally diverse, with Chinese, Malay, Indian and international communities. Life is safe, efficient and convenient, supported by excellent public transport, healthcare and amenities, although accommodation and daily expenses can be high. Hospitality roles commonly involve shift work, weekends and public holidays. Foreign candidates generally need an employer-sponsored work pass: an S Pass may suit eligible mid-skilled technical roles, while an Employment Pass is aimed at higher-paid professional positions. Approval depends on salary, qualifications, experience, quotas and government requirements. Before relocating, candidates should confirm the pass type, accommodation, medical coverage, probation terms and whether the employer provides relocation assistance.
