Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, food and beverage, retail, technology, finance, and healthcare. Its culture is multicultural, with Chinese, Malay, Indian, and international influences reflected in food, festivals, languages, and daily life. Public transport is efficient, the city is clean and safe, and housing, transport, and dining costs can be high. Foreign employees generally need employer-sponsored permission such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to salary, qualifications, and government approval; employers usually guide the application process. Relocating staff should arrange accommodation, healthcare coverage, banking, and tax registration. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid throughout the year, with frequent rain. English is widely used in workplaces, making adjustment relatively straightforward for international professionals.
