Destination Guide

Singapore is a highly developed island city-state and a major centre for hospitality, finance, technology, aviation and tourism. Hotel workers can find opportunities in luxury properties, resorts, restaurants, events and travel services, although competition is strong. The culture is multicultural, orderly and service-oriented, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Lifestyle benefits include excellent public transport, diverse food, safe neighbourhoods, modern amenities and easy regional travel. Living costs, especially rent, are high, so employer accommodation or a housing allowance can be valuable. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, and must meet current salary and eligibility rules. The employer normally submits the application, while candidates should verify requirements with Singapore's Ministry of Manpower before relocating.
