The Chief Engineer leads the hotel’s engineering and maintenance operations, ensuring reliable performance of building services, equipment, utilities, fire and life-safety systems, and guest facilities. Company Info

Shangri-La is a Hong Kong-founded luxury hospitality group operating hotels, resorts, and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America, and other international markets. The company is known for personalised service, strong Asian hospitality values, and high standards in guest comfort and operational quality. Its Hong Kong properties include prominent luxury hotels serving business travellers, leisure guests, events, and long-stay residents. Engineering teams support complex properties with extensive guest rooms, restaurants, meeting facilities, swimming pools, mechanical and electrical systems, and sustainability requirements. Employees can generally expect a multinational working environment, structured hotel operations, professional development opportunities, and close collaboration with rooms, food and beverage, security, and finance departments.

Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hotel engineering, facilities management, construction, property services, finance, technology, retail, and tourism. Hong Kong Island combines dense city life, harbour views, international dining, hiking trails, and efficient public transport; Kowloon and the New Territories provide wider housing choices and access to beaches, country parks, and local neighbourhoods. The culture is fast-paced and international, with Cantonese widely spoken alongside English and Mandarin. Rents can be high, so candidates should compare accommodation, commuting time, medical cover, and any housing allowance. Overseas employees normally require an employment visa sponsored by the hiring company and must meet immigration requirements before starting work. Relocation is convenient but requires planning for housing deposits, insurance, banking, and tax registration. Typhoons and humid summers are part of daily life, while public transport is clean, extensive, and reliable.
