Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, international city with excellent employment opportunities in hotels, tourism, restaurants, finance, retail, logistics and professional services. Although commonly associated with Hong Kong Island, the territory also includes Kowloon and the New Territories, connected by an efficient MTR, bus and ferry network. The culture blends Cantonese traditions, international influences, fast-paced city life and strong respect for professionalism and punctuality. Residents enjoy excellent dining, shopping, public transport, hiking trails, beaches and nearby islands, though housing can be expensive and space is limited. Overseas employees generally need an appropriate work visa sponsored by an employer; applicants must normally show qualifications, relevant experience and a genuine position. Arrange accommodation, medical cover, banking and identity documentation before arrival, and check current immigration requirements with Hong Kong authorities. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is common in hospitality and business.
